The Coffee... (has had it?)

Yesterday we decided to go out for dinner. Iris felt a little tired after a hard week of working. So she had a hard earned nap on her swing. We took an hour or so for going to our restaurant, making some photos. (Botanical Gardens, campus of our tech. university) When the time comes, she lies still there and had sweet dreams of sour gherkins!! How to wake her up?

I made a strong coffee, placed it on her workstation and started a song on

Listen to the music and you can understand the message : "The coffee is ready"
(doesn´t sound it amazingly tenderly....
...when the first sunrays falling on your mind...
...does it not sound lovely???

(if you listening to the sound and you are not a native austrian, you will understand only a little bit less than me).

OK, it is freely translated. But it´s a slushy song and so Iris got up.

High-Tech. build in Braunschweig! The window to the past showed us: Commodore Business Machine (short CBM) Science-fiction becomes truth!! Now we have the possibilities to: e-mail, internet, international communication (in realtime, also spaceflight and interplanetary roboting!!
What a machine....

30 years ago this all started here in Braunschweig. Today when I go to the post office, buying a stamp I see computers and post-officers working: A stamp? 55ct? OK: then scanning the barcode, type in the ID-code, verifying the result on the sreen (twice is better)then the final "Enter" ( or was it return??)
Silence......
System came up to ready! ...and....
acknowledgment of receipt has been taken!!

My new project..

A few minutes ago I fount a maple-seed direct into my bathtub.

It is october (autumn, here in europe) and I decided to plant it! Must be a mystic omen, because I´ve got a new job yesterday. I´m not supersticious, but a few days ago, a friend of me gave me some apples.

He told me that his wife bought some(mouthwatering)apples and planted the seeds. Now the tree has grown to 2.5 meters and the first apples could be picked. The little appleseed has gone a long dangerous way and is now an established tree in my friends garden.

I don´t know where the next maple-tree is, but the seed will become a chance! (found in a bathtub, grown in a pod and released in a nature reserve (we have some here))

Maybe this seed will be famous?

What you can make of this little stuff is this:

we sat in our kitchen, Iris watched "Gilmore Girls" and I was thinking about my "Instructable" about a "flying something", ready to fly in 5 min. The "something" is constructed with a few basic household available things. (OK, the propeller I brought from the local model-shop)

Unfortunately I built my paper modell in the wrong size, so it´s impossible my little Piper will be flying! (when I was a child, I build a really flying RC-Piper)

So at least my "something" flies!

So what will happen if the the size of the modell (Piper) and the "something" is equal?
I think we will have a real flying ......

Here is the rcipe for Labskaus
( Ahoy und immer eine steife Brise, beim Klabautermann !!!)

1 potato per person (fist size)
1 can/tin of Corned Beef
1 onion
2 bay leafes
salt, pepper
gherkin
beetroot
egg per person

Peel and cook potatoes with salt. Cut and steam onions, add mashed Corned Beef. Add water to get a smooth consistency. Add bay leafes, season to taste with salt and pepper and let simmer for 5 –10 minutes.

Mash the potatoes and add them in, remove the bay leafes..

Serve with fried eggs, arrange Labskaus, eggs, beetroot and gherkin and Yumm it... here are some pics :-)

A day after my birthday, I drove to Braunschweig. We, Iris and me, had an appointment in the PTB. I was late (traffig yam) and picked up Iris on the street.

When we returned I made a great birthday-tour:

Next, when I came in, I saw my special experiment wishing me a happy one as well: The experiment is: turning a pig into a cow (german quote see the buddy here - from his content we´ll go to El Gaucho and have the yummiest steak in the world! Don´t believe me? See yourself invited for a proof [you pay the ticket to come here]! (This experiment will transform a pig into a cow´s best pieces!) :-)

The kitchen is still decorated with lots of colored bags of compressed air,(ordinary people called them balloons :-)...)

Last Saturday we went to the FAL (Federal Agricultural Research Centre) to visit the corn labyrinth.

On the way up there I saw the kiddies-play-arch they also have in the Phaeno, an experimental museum.

"I know this one!" I exclaimed and the man standing right there looked blank into my face. You could see his mind working, "who is this guy, do I have to know him, too?". And what a relief his face showed when I said, "nahh, I just mean the arch ;-)".

If anybody thinks, my telecommunication equipment (short: cell phone) is a little bit "overstyled", I found a site from a german engineer to look at!

It is a german site and the engineer has time making "impossible things working".

He describes fixing/modifying an old (scrap, now never working in the western civilisation again) telephone! He made it working! Transportable, funktionable and: without a wire!

BBQ

We have the end of April and temperatures in the mid-twenties! So we made the second (and third) BBQ this year. It was a great success and we sat in our jungle til 10 pm or so. On Sunday a tried a new method to light up the barby in a few seconds! Works great, but do this only if you know what you do!

The last seven weeks we had totally dry and sunny weather. The farmers had problems with their sowings (without water the seed do not sproud)

Last week, from monday to now: I´s raining again....ooohhhOOOOhhhOOOO (Supertramp in the 80´s)
But the advantage is: The green I can see out of my bathroom becomes greener and our jungle becomes darker!

Last weekend I spend my time in Braunschweig at Iris´ place.(Second weekend in order) She got internet access and so we spend a weekend together with "Alice".
A special feature was the unusual brunch on Saturday and sunday for me: 1 kg asparagus (every day) with potatoes and butter, what a feast! Iris doesn´t like asparagus since I fed her every week a few years ago.
Unfortunately I forgot my blogger- login dates, but now I am back. (I hope I will blog more often from now)

bread roll?

When I was young, 35+ years ago, I was sent to buy some bread rolls on Saturdays. A roll cost 5 ct and a special roll (poppy seed, once a month) for 20 ct.
Today there are lots of rolls available: sports, multigrain, power, sesame, yogurt, cheese and what a hell you want else.
Last weekend I was in my bakery and listened to the customers before me. The orders were: 2 aa, 3 bb, 2 cc and so on and "two ordinaries".

So I learned fast and when it was my turn, I ordered "two ordinaries".
Not for 5 ct as a child, but for 25 ct now.(This happened in a city where the time is made! ,beautiful Brunswick)

It´s an Internet-Provider with affordeble Prices. So I ordered a 4 MBit Connection for Iris. ( 2 to 6 weeks and it will work, some technical work to do) Than she will have "the window to the world in form of two 17" Monitors" ...I think so we have a few hours more in our weekend relationship! This can be done by T.Y.P.I.N.G_I.N_Y.O.U.R_K.E.Y.B.O.A.R.R.D: or : Skype can manage international and regional phones for (almost) NOTHING, thangs to Skype)

The Ghost!

I have seen the Ghost (almost the Death) on the German "Autobahn". The reason for "driving on the wrong lane" is:

manic retired person
suicide
simply stupid driver
drivers under drugs/alcohol

Last sunday, I drove home from Brunswick, on the freeway. Suddenly I saw lights in front of me. Before I could realize what happens, the cars before me spin away, crush and I thought: brake, find the gap and go straight through.

Wrecked parts fell down on my car. I was so terrified. I didn´t stop my car because other cars could hit me.
After all (seconds to react), I survived.
Second time I survived a trip. Two years ago a doctor told me: "Tomorrow you wouldn´t be here, but dead"
Life is so precious.

Blogger Beta: I became mad!

Everything is different, nothing works. I had massive work and no time to blog and no time to find out how to blog with the beta version.

But in the time we are here back in (pretty warm) Germany, lots of things where happening.
My Grandma offered me a bundle of "green cabbage" (a winter vegatable, very popular in northern Germany)
Next what I´ve cookt where classic roulade (a slice of a dead cow +bacon + mustard +onion and pickelt cucumber (gerkin!)

Both dishes are "mouthwatering" Sorry, but I have no Photos (not yet) from the Rouldes (mustard is the secred of a dry (almost: dust-dry, without sauce), (I name it "Iris-like")
I´m now more then 2 hr´s trying to post here. I have almost lots of problem with this beta!

My living room is almost transfigured. (I´ve only two heaps of junk and no time to execute, separate important things from junk.
The weather forecast for next weekend says: Clean up your flat, you will spend a lot of time at home, because the weather will be ugly!

So I´m be glad having a new sofa. (Caution!Transformer! It´s still not alive.
On the other hand: Monsters are welcome, but if my sofa become a monster...?

The last weeks I cleared out my flat and I found some interesting, but worthless things: My old passports!
My first one, issued in 1982, I had a dream. Finished the school and started my job training, I thought about a really great dream of discovering Australia.
11 jears later,I´m a student now, my brother callt me and ask if I still have my dream.
The German passport become safety (mashine-readable and fraud resistant)
I told him my aswere and he replied: OK, I´ve booked already the journey!
(In this time we whwere both students and so we have the same holidays. Now he is a doctor and I am an engeneer)

In this passport I have my 3 visa for Australia. Security in passports are good, but keeping the citizens under control is better. So I got my third one! ( Insider know that everyone had pay for it:-)

Today I removed, (scrap lots of my inventory) and now I have an echo! And behind my cabinet I found lots of mould from the last flood in 2002. The mould is still dying, cause I used "Don´t be at least 3 days in this room" The Windows are open and the smell of chlorine is in air

A few weeks ago we decided to make a little afternoon walk. We had all possibilities and dicided the way on the bikelane. And than we met him: The former national champion in swimming (police league). He won some(lots) gold and silver medals. (Apart from the first-price cups in "he called it fun" competitions.) I know this, because this man is my father.
When I was younger, I asked him about his ranking: "First place, what else?"
Today, cycling is his passion an so we met him.

I am proud of my father!

First my father connected me, offered me a delicious lunch (yummy fish, everybody like it). After the meal he ask me, if I want have a dessert! I declined, because I had lost the fishy flavour!

On the afternoon my/our neighbor, "provider" of Discovery-Channel and all the other channels had a problem: "The Server is down"
Me: This hadn´t had hapened!
He: It happened
So together we fixed the problem. Less than 2 hours (the/our) server was running again!

The deer

Today I was for lunch by my parents. They offered me a well cooked, excellent spiced roast of the deer. During lunchtime my father told me, that the deer had some ticks and fleas.
He explained when they skinned the deer in the kitchen some bugs have escaped from the deers coat. (..and suddenly it startet itching.)

My fathers grandson didn´t know what has happened;-)
But all in all it was a great lunch with an unforgettable deer!

My phone was ringing! Can anybody imgine what it is meaning when my phone is ringing? My phone number is a secret number, only five persons, not even my parents know this number! A telephone-Computer made it and so I had an interview with a young girl about Pay-Back, Customer Cards and so on. I know that this people made there jobs for earning a little extra money and so I made the interview instead watching a report about Australia in TV.(my imagination should be sufficient)

A few minutes ago i talked with my father for at least half an hour! The secret was not communicate via a pager like yahoo, but communicate via SKYPE(TM). So he couldn´t realize that this call was an internet-call.
He told me lots about his grandchild (Leo was on holidays) and what they have done together. (They took the tram to "Brocken"(Brocken=Mountain:1441m above NN, cold, bad sight but for the freaks: "I mounted 200 times...").
Next they visited a cave. (During my military duty, I have driven this place almost every day.
But this is more than 20 years ago and this cave is still like ever...)

I´m in charge of our firm account. My boss did a mistake not marking a used TAN before he went on holiday...
I used the TAN twice again: Now our company account is disabled! I have a problem now.
Please, any good advice will work ! What can I do? (I have a new TAN-list, but must sign (per hand) a form.
I am not my Boss! (but his right hand, he is in Spain.)

Bat-Day

We slept a little bit longer this sunday - when we got up we went into the kitchen. Iris cleaned up a little bit and put some plates into the sink.

Suddenly a strange noise emerged, the sound of someone crying for help or something.
Iris escaped(fleed into the bedroom and locked the door)My problen then was: How big is this insect?

Note: In 1995, in Australia (Bugs get bigger there:-) , I had a fight with an ordenary tiny ;-) moth! (Kingsize, with a powerfull noise while attacking)

So what did I find? A tiny little helpless bat! Placed himself(black) on a black sponge. So I gave first aid and put it outside in our "jungle". (Hung it in a small tree)
I asked my girl-friend for assistance, but the bedroom-door was still closed!

I hope I could say: home!
And if I arrived home: I will live like home: I´m working on the realiziation! I´m a little bit desperate, because I try to buy a car in Perth. ( Not really buy a car but looking for prices, locations etc.) Unfortunatly Iris taggt/taged (I don´t know what it really is) me. I am new here and on the questions of my favorite movies I respondet: What about "Groundhog-Day", "Christmas-Vacation" or "Airplan" (1980 with Robert Hays as Ted Striker..) Sorry that I can´t do this Quiz. I´ve something to do for a unique (hope so) holiday.

Feel unconfortable today

In the morning, when I woke up, I had a strange feeling in my left eye. It was itching and a little bit hurting. I consulted my doctor and he told me that it was a "hordeolum". "It is unconfortable but not serious and with an eye ointment this will last only a few days". So I´ll see (on my right eye) and feel the itching left one !-)

Germany 2006

The world-championship in germany shows curious behaviour of the motorists! Yesterday evening we spend the evening in our "Jungle". (baked potatoes included) But a few minutes after the soccer-game starts, nobody was on the road. It was like saturdays or sundays evenings when the traffic slows down. But on a tuesday without traffic noise, it was a strang tuesday.

Today 05.07.2006 was the hottest day in Germany! An I was the fool who have to go to a customer and fix a satelitte dish.

Today we have another BBQ (Iris is still here). We try making potatoes in charcoal, just like we did in Australia many times. (almost Aussie-like, we leave out the garlic and use charcoal instead a wooden fire. I have to work tomorrow ;-)..)

The aluminium foil is for heat reflection. Then the barbie works like an oven.

My parents (both) visited me for the first time I moved here. They were astonished that we like our "jungle" with our BBQ.

We have a private BBQ area near a creek which is fenced to the street via wheeds two metres of hight! For my parents it was just full of weeds. Their opinion is: "Here is something to do..." (but they didn´t see us from the street and this is what we want.
